I am only 1 day past my due date. Yesterday I had an internal exam and found out I was 1cm dilated. They did however say my blood pressure is up 150/100. It then came back down to 132/82 later on in the OB office. They told me they wanted to induce by the end of the week and later called me to tell me that there are no spots available for induction. (our city is overpopulated and going through a health care crisis). So they told me to go on bedrest and to return Thursday to get re-assessed. I then started having bleeding this morning which has been on/off all day. I know that it is normal following an internal exam, but everything right now is freaking me out. I am just so worried that this wait will cause something to go wrong. A friend of mine just had a still birth at 41 weeks and this is all I can think about. Please, how the heck do I stay calm in this situation? Any advice will help...

Concentrate on doing things that will keep your mind off it - I was a week late, too, and my son was perfectly ok. I played games, watched TV, talked on the phone - whatever it took. Drink plenty of water to help keep your pressure down; stay away from caffeine and soda that could bring your pressure up. If you start to have any difficulty, then by all means go to the Emergency Room, but chances are you're simply taking your time, especially if this is your first baby.

Stay calm and try to sit down and count your baby's movements. As long as you feel baby moving you're fine. If you don't call your dr ASAP.If there's alot of blood call your dr. Spotting after an exam is normal, but heavy bleeding can be lifethreatening. If it's blood and snotty looking, it's possibly what they call bloody show and could signal labor is coming.

It's really not unusual for people to go beyond "THE DUE DATE" because the date is based on the THEORY that every woman has a 28 day cycle and ovulated on the 14th day. Very few women actually do indeed ovulate on the 14th day hence the reason why there are so many "fertility" problems today. I've had a few late babies myself and the only thing you can do is just try to walk and if you have a birthing ball sit on that and try to rock your pelvis to help baby drop down into position. A thing that you can try in an act of desperation is evening primrose capsules, but there is a risk involved of stressing the baby and causing unneeded interventions like c-sections. Good luck!

I was 12 days over with my first and ended up being induced becouse of fetal distress. 6 days over with my second and the day before my induction. but only 3 days with my 3rd so that was a nice supprise.
If your worried about the bleeding then park yourself at your Dr's. Dont take any chances. this is your baby your looking out for. Im sure we have all got story's of births gone wrong but their are so many more happy endings, you need to remind yourself of this. Get yourself a baby mag and read a few GOOD birth storys.
As for the waiting, my best advise for you is to not try any wifes tales. THEY DONT WORK! and if they do, it was going to happen anyway. walking just tires you out and a bumpy road just makes you want to go to the bathroom. Baby will come when baby is ready, they dont have a calander in there to know when its time. 38-42 weeks gestation is concidered "normal".
Dont think about it happening naturaly, focus on the induction date and if it happens naturaly then all the better

I know its easy to say, but you have to think about your baby, and staying calm is the best thing you can do. If you try to relax, baby will feel relaxed too.
The hospital wouldn't have sent you home if they thought there was something seriously wrong. If you can still feel movements from your baby then you know he/she is ok, but if you're stressed out and worried you may not feel them. Call your doctor or midwife unit if you are still worried - health crisis or not they'd rather check you out than leave you to worry at home on your own.
Listen to your favourite music, make sure you have packed what you need, read a book - take time out for yourself now before that bundle of fun arrives. Nature will take its course and in the meantime you need to look after yourself.
I'm sure it'll all work out for you. I wish you the very best of luck!

Nipple stimulation is scientifically shown and maximum medical doctors will corroborate this evidence. this might stimulate the production of oxytocin on your physique. Oxytocin is an identical hormone that they provide a girl (interior the unreal form of Pitocin) to set off exertions. that's the hormone that's released while nursing and motives the uterus to settlement. in the adventure that your cervix is dilating and softening, then this might help get the approach rolling. (The progestin out of your husband's seminal fluid will help in softening the cervix.) given which you're already at your due date, you ought to verify in case you may get an appointment with a authorized, authorized rubdown therapist who's experienced in prenatal rubdown. this might relax you, make you extra gentle and much less irritable, and may even stimulate exertions. From a bodywork attitude, in case you rub the insides of your ankles, that's an acupressure element for stimulation of exertions. that's no longer inevitably scientifically shown, however the rubdown and nipple stimulation strategies are.

Worrying will not cause stillbirth. RELAX, girl! Are you really "bleeding" as in needing a pad, or "spotting" as in needing a pantiliner? There's a big difference. Have they checked your blood (for liver enzymes) and urine (for protein) because of the high blood pressure? Have they used the term PIH (pregnancy-induced hypertension)? Are you swollen? Spots or flashing in front of your eyes? Recurring headaches? Epigastric pain, like heartburn, especially on the right? If so, call and ask them to check up on it.

Remember: bedrest means staying in bed, only get up to the bathroom. No housework or sneaking out to shop!
