They used Universal Translators, or at least claimed to. It was a special device that quickly learned how to translate any language, there were a few species it didn't work on. Fictional technology is eternally powerful and imaginative.

Yea well they had to make them all speak English, Star Trek in subtitles would be retarded.
So I gues they all speak,"The Common Tongue",or use voice translaters.

LOL. No. I think they speak in their own language. The amazing part is that we hear it in our own language.
