AL - Alex Gordon KC: Daisuke is way overhyped, and I think he will either a) crumble in the AL east or b) blow his arm out after all the innings in Japan. Gordon will put up solid numbers and overcome the Boston Media Machine
NL - Chris B. Young, AZ: Decent stats in September, and now he has a chance to play everyday. He will edge Homer Bailey, who still needs a few years to get it together.

I think Delmon Young will be the ROY in the A.L. I don't think it will be Matsuzaka no matter how good he is. Sasaki and Suzuki won it back-to-back for the Mariners in 2000 and 2001, but in 2003, when Matsui was clearly better than Angel Berroa, there were writers who refused to vote for him because the thinking started to change on Japanese stars being voted Rookie of the Year. I am also of the opinion that long-time Japanese superstars should not be eligible. It will be interesting to see what happens this year. I think it should be given to young player, a true rookie, rather than the most dominant pitcher in Japan who moved to the majors.

Matt Garza--P MN Twins.
Has the stuff and the bats behind him to get the wins. Made an incredible jump from A to double A to Triple A to the Show last year as a rookie and has looked good this spring---think a less dominating Liriano, but can withstand the demands of a full season.

I'd say that Cole Hamels is as good a bet as any if he qualifies in terms of the timing of his joining the Phils from the minors last season. He and Brett Myers make a potent one-two punch on the Phils staff. See below;

Homer Bailey will join the Reds before summer, and go on to win 13-15 games with an ERA around 2.70 and take home ROY.

My predictions for Rookie of the Year are:
American League: Delmon Young
National League: Tim Lincecum (for some reason I think he will be good)

Alex Gordon. Guys like Dice-K (and Ichiro when he won it) shouldn't be given consideratioin for Rookie of the Year seeing as how they have played pro ball in Japan for years.
