I have several pairs of pleated-front pants that I don't know whether to keep or donate. The key question: Would I embarrass myself if I wore them? Straight legs, cuffs, ride at the waist, nice fabric. Are they classic or hopelessly out of date? Should I keep them in case I need to go to a funeral or pose as a corporate type? Or would I embarrass myself by wearing them in any circumstances? (I'm an editor and I work at home.) Thanks!

If you even have to ask, I'd recommend ditching them. If you did end up wearing them you'd be having this whole crazy debate once again in your head... you'd *feel* hopelessly out of date regardless of what the pants actually looked like, and your demeanor would reflect this inner conflict. Clothes are supposed to make you look AND feel good. Also, pleats? Yeah, donate them.

I tried to read your answer out loud to my friend but I couldn't cause I just kept laughing and laughing and laughing...

Pants don't cost much. Just donate the things and buy new ones when your aunt kicks off or you have a job interview or whatever. I wish my life was in order enough to worry about old pants.

pleated-front pants makes your hips look wide I'd donate and then go out and pay some without pleats

You could tailor them into capris or a skirt, you could even make a purse out of it...if you don't want to do all that...then just give them away at a garage sale or something...=]

I think you should keep those pants. There's nothing wrong with the cuffs.

Wiggle them in my face (well a distance of approx. 15 meters to avoid harassment laws).

front-pleated pants aren't flattering, so that's up to you if you want to keep them.
