1st of all....OH MY GOD are you not the greatest boyfriend ever!!!! Now if I could just get my husband to be the considerate. Anyway sorry to tell you, but there really is not much more you can do for her then is already being done. I know that is not the answer that you wanted to hear, but it seems that you are both doing what is best. The bottle water bottles are good, also you can go to the store and get those hot pads that just stick to the skin...those work well. If the dosage that she is taking of midol is not working she could always take a little more. Other then that, really not much will help. You being there with her and letting her rest her head on your lap or chest is properly one of the only things that will help. Maybe some flowers or something will take her mind off of it...GOOD LUCK I feel for her

That is like the sweetest thing I've read here! Ok, now for your girlfriend, she really should see a doc for this. I went through the same thing, and ended up have SEVERE endometriosis. I'm not saying she has that, but she shouldn't put off seeing the doc, just to make sure everything is ok. They can also give her meds to help get through these times, and believe me, I've been there and HATE them. If Midol isn't working, then she should really see a doc.

If her periods are regular, meaning they come at same time each month, then she can start taking 800mg of ibuprofen 3 times a day with food starting 3 days prior to expected time of period. This helps cut down on prostaglandin production which is the cause of the cramps. If she has a heavy menstrual flow, going thru one tampon/pad per hour and severe cramps, suggestive of endometriosis--needs to see her doctor. If it's just cramps and 3 days of ibuprofen prior doesn't help, she might try asking doctor for mild narcotic such as darvocet which has tylenol in it, so she can't take tylenol with it, but ok with ibuprofen. ---Nurse

That is amazingly sweet of u. if only we could all find boyfriends like that. maybe the midol isn't working for her. she should try tylenol, advil, etc. also sometimes a hot shower can help. i usually find that sitting is better than laying dow but i think that depends on the person. good luck!

I use to get the worse cramps when I was in my teens, my doctor said it was from cysts on my ovaries. Blackberry tea is a really good thing for cramps, I know that sounds weird but it use to really work for me, I would have to be in the fetal position, so mine were pretty bad.
Hope this helps.

A heating pad works wonders, it might be better than a waterbottle.
Tell her to start taking soy products!!!
Japanese women don't even have words in their language like cramps, and menopause. That's because their diet is mostly soy. But when they come over here to live and stop eating so much soy, they get cramps and hot flashes.
I started taking soy shakes, and it DEFINATLY helped a LOT, and it's really yummy too, so tell her to start taking soy.

Oh what a sweet boyfriend. Over the years I have found that Motrin worked best for me. I was always so sick. She can also check with her doctor about going on the pill... that can help make things easier on her. (this worked for me as well)
Good luck to you and your girlfriend hope she feels better soon:)
