What do you mean the proportions?
If you just want examples: water molecules stick together by cohesion. Water sticks to other surfaces by adhesion.

Take a penny, water, and an eyedropper. Count how many drops you can fit onto the penny. Water sticks together because of cohesion and sticks to the penny because of adhesion. Try the experiment...you'll be surprised.
