I don't mean to say the blue metal drop box but like the free boxes from the USPS that are blue and red that say priority mail on them. I just need some clarification of this media mail phenomenon. Help me and capture the prize. If you are an expert you would be paid a handsome 10 points for the best answer concerning all things media mail. Anything you know could improve your chances of getting those ever valued 10 points and the coveted best answer percentile ranking. Go for it. Media mail is the topic. Media mail tell one tell all. Ok, the main problem with drop boxes and media mail is weight and customer recognition. If you're not a "know customer" ie traceable by having a meter or click n ship account then anything over a pound you drop in a box is likely to be returned. Of course if you already meet those criteria then don't worry too much about putting it in the wrong box because we Letter Carriers don't sweat that kind of thing. ;-)

The boxes marked "Priority Mail" are marked that way for a reason---it helps the PO sort things properly. If you try to send media at a lower rate in one of those boxes, it will confuse the system, and your package may be held up.
