In my name, none.
In my partners name, 3. They are all empty however, we pay the balance off on the one we use occasionally in full every month.

I have about 10. A few have balances on them, some don't. I also have some store cards (used only once in a great while but currently all paid off) and some gas cards, that I only use when I cannot us my American Express. My credit score is 783, so even having outstanding balances isn't hurting me, and I'm ok with paying them off as I am.

I have 5! But delighted to say that I owe nothing on 4 of them and not too much on the 5th. I took advantage of 0% balance transfers and kept changing. Luckily I'm sensible enough not to spend on them otherwise I could go out tomorrow and blow £50k on credit - thank god I'm not that stupid but I feel sorry for people that are.
The only one I use is my Capital One card 'cos it's got a really cool union jack design on it!

You can have many as you like as long as you are of age & enough in the bank account to pay for your credit, without having been black-listed. Not much point having too many anyway, more complicated to work out how much you owe.

I have 8! But the balances get moved from one to another depending on their promotions - when the promotions expire I transfer the funds to a different card and close that one - no interest = cheap loans!

One. Paid off everyone month.
In the UK your credit rating will not be affected significantly by the number of cards you have. They are more concerned about if you have ever defaulted on any payments, being on the electoral register, and being linked to anyone who has defaulted on payments.
