um, you can go buy a deck of cards and actually touch them for yourself...
52 cards,
four suits,
which means 13 cards Ace through King A,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,J,Q,K in each suit.
the four suits are Hearts, Diamonds, Spades, and Clubs. Hearts and Diamonds are Red- Spades and Clubs are Black
Each "number" is in the deck four times IE: a two of spades, a two of clubs, a two of hearts and a two of diamonds etc...
you can also look at any of the card games on Yahoo or that came on your computer (Hearts, solitaire, free cell, spider solitaire)

A standard deck has 52 or 54 cards
4 suits - spades,hearts,clubs,diamonds
13 cards of every suit from Ace to King-
13 spades + 13 hearts+13 clubs+13 diamonds = 52 cards
Most decks come with 2 jokers ( depends on if you want to use them)
the jokers make the deck 54 cards

They all seem to be accurate, but some are more helpful than others.
I think that Mark B said it best, so I would study his explanation.
And you might also buy or borrow a deck of cards. (Next best alternative: go to a website that shows the cards.)
Incidentally, some responders mention that a deck comes with 2 jokers, so there are a total of 54 cards. That's true, but the jokers are almost never used in games, and are unlikely to be involved in a probability question.

Hi,
26 red, 26 black, 4 each of all cards. 13 cards in a suit Akqj,etc down to a 2. There are most always 2 jokers included to make there be 54 cards usually used in poker but also in Canasta.

There are 2 black and 2 red of each card. So 2 red kings and 2 black kings, 2 red queens and 2 black queens and so on with all of the cards.
