Did Dee from the short story "Everyday Use", have contridictory traits?

I think she did, she was very progeressive, yet also all of a sudden "rootsy". I'm looking to discuss a couple contridictory traits in Dee. What do you all think about her?

Yes, I think the main contradiction in her character is what you say: that she can only appreciate her culture from the perspective of an outsider. The only other contradictions I can think of relate to how she always wanted to be something other than what she actually was: when she was a poor country girl she wanted to be a rich city person, but once that dream came true she wanted to show off her roots. I don't like her--does anyone?
