My boyfriend and I are looking at housing options for only a year or two, and there is a cute moderately priced loft condo. How did you like living in a loft condo? Seems so open, I dont know just wanted to get other peoples opinion on it. Please dont answer if you've never actually lived in one, thanks!

A friend has one. As well as my bf. The open concept is one that takes getting used to. I was actually looking at places that were loft condos myself. I found a few that were two floor floorplans but the kitchen was right under the bedroom, and there was no wall...just some stairs up and you can see over from the bedroom/upper floor over to the lower level, but there was no wall...no sound barrier...or scent barrier for that matter... I don't know about you but if my significant other has an odd sleepin schedule(which he does), I would definitely not appreciate him being awake at 3am frying hotdogs or whatever while I was trying to sleep(which he also does). I think that the loft/open concept loft condo idea is better for a single person or one who does not have problems with the open concept. (Not much privacy unless you're keen on Ikea and "privacy screens"/alternative "walls"). But they are "modern" and "cute" if that's what you're into. Some practical aspects are thrown out the door though because of the higher elevation of the building space.
Good luck,
miR :)
