That a conservative gets married out of logic. Do they know true love, do they follow their heart for passion? or did they miss loves game and just get married for convenience? I have met many ex conservatives that were cons while married but after divorce they became liberals... does dating/marriage choices contribute to liberalism... is there at least a correlation that you see?

Relationships affecting politics? Fascinating question.

When my boyfriend and I got together, I was liberal and he was a die-hard Republican.

After he began to read some other material, see where the world was going etc...he began to change and now he is as staunch a liberal as I am.

For a more thorough search to this question, I might suggest reading about Myers/Briggs, Keirsey/Bates personality types.

There are people guided primarily by emotions and primarily by thought in every party. That is not to say that emotionally guided people don't think, or that thought guided people don't feel, but simply a measure of what decides questions for them, and what they act off of.

Love to see that scientific study, though I am sure you are partially right! All neocons become liberal when you ask them to support their kids! It is all about their pocketbook and them! They could care less about anyone else, even the troops!

Loved it when ole 5 time draft deferred Dick Cheney was "supporting" the military! Sure would like to see what he has made off this war!

Hawkish Cheney accepted a series (5) of student and family-related draft deferments. Cheney's unself-consciousness about this is so pronounced that in 1989 he told George C. Wilson of the Washington Post, "I had other priorities in the '60s than military service."

Wow. I have always wanted to understand this too.

Some of my parents friends who used to be very conservative became liberal through other circumstances.

The people who because conservative from being liberal did too.
I have never seen anyone change their political influence through divorce, but marriage. And also crime, punishment, a child having some sort of problems, teaching (professions), but never divorce.

This is very interesting.

"What is conservatism? Is it not adherence to the old and tried, against the new and untried?" Abraham Lincoln Source: February 27, 1860 - Cooper Union Add

Liberals base their ideas on logic and fact, and as more facts become know to them they often change their minds.
Conservatives are driven by What they already know and are reluctant to change their minds for fear of being seen as weak. Also conservative are more fearful and that drives them to anger and outrage at anyone trying to inform them of things they would rather not hear.

this question might have actually done better in the philosophy section... .. but I will say, that at least in the areas I have been... that women seem to be more at peace with their sexuality if they are liberal and more uptight about it if they are conservative.. again that's just my experience.

A conservative is someone who claims that government cannot solve problems and then gets elected to public office where they prove it.
