What is your favorite Jane Austen book besides Pride and Prejudice (because I have a feeling many will pick that one), and what is your least favorite Jane Austen book? Why?

favorite-------Emma

least favorite------Persuasion

personally, i'm not a big fan of austen, but i've read just about all her works as a part of the undergraudate senior seminar dealing exclusively with austen and her works.

i now teach literature at the college level. the only time austen surfaces in my courses is when i teacher a graduate level course----WOMEN IN LITERATURE. in the class we use EMMA as our austen entry.

I actually have not found a Jane Austen book that I don't like. On the other hand, I loved Persuasion, and most commonly Sense and Sensibility.

Persuasion is my favorite (except for P&P of course) and Emma is my least favorite. Emma is my least favorite because she is a character that I can't really relate to and sympathize with. She is a character that for me is hard to like and cheer for. Persuasion is my favorite because I love that heroine, that character best.
