The one book ive read that really hit a nerve was
A CHILD CALLED IT. If you haven't read this book then you need too.
One of the worst abuse cases in California's history came to an end on March 5, 1973. Dave Pelzer begins his incredible story as an abused child with his rescue in part one of a series, A Child Called "It". Calling this book a "page turner" doesn't give it justice. Easy to read, but difficult to comprehend how any mother could treat her child this way.
Besides being horribly beaten, Dave was forced to eat his own vomit, swallow soap, ammonia, and Clorox. This was just the beginning of his mother's "games". Dave's childhood wasn't always a nightmare. There were the "good years" in the beginning and Dave devotes a chapter describing the feelings of warmth and safety provided by his mother. By the age of 4 these feelings were replaced with fear, starvation, and lowliness.

I have read many books which have evoked in me feelings of sorrow, anger, pain, guilt and compassion. Including most of the books mentioned above. I often think when reading such books " this is one story " . There are millions of other people out there in the world suffering similar / worse fates, who will never have their story told / published or be afforded a " happy " ending.

by John Colapinto
It is disgusting that a sexologist, Dr. John Money, could be allowed to practice his heinous experiments on a little boy.

House by Dekker and Perreti - It was so pathetically written by two boobs that I returned it to the store and asked for my money back. The clerk laughed and gave me a full refund. It seems that between the two of those idiots, they are incapable of writing a complete sentence.

"a child called it" and also "the little prisoner." Theyre the kind of books that make you so cross yet you cannot put them down, you just want to see how things turned out.
