We had to reformat our computer and now, getting itunes back, I want to know how to keep adding music to my ipod without having to overwrite the music I already have on it?

Is this a stupid question? I'm kind of afraid to hook up my ipod until I confirm how to do this (my husband accidentally erased his... I've put too much time into mine to have the same thing happen...)

You'll have to use your ipod as a drive (you can do this through itunes) and then go in to the ipod select 'View' from the folder menu and go to 'Folder Options' and then select 'Show hidden files and folders'. Move all of the music from it to your computer's hard drive. Once you do that you can drag all of the songs to itunes. Basically what you're doing is tricking the ipod in to thinking it's overwriting your music.
