I nursed my sister's son when he was just days old. They were having a hard time getting started. I gave her my 2 month old who knew exactly what to do. I took her 2 day old and taught him. It worked like a charm she nursed him til he was 1 yr old.
she was on the brink of giving up and bottle feeding him. Her husband was at the store buying forumla.

I would do the same thing. For a sister, sister-in-law, or good friend. If the other woman really wants to breastfeed I would do anything I could to help, even if it is being there in the middle of the night to help her through. It is wonderful that you did this. It is a beautiful gift to your nephew, a healthier life!

Absolutely, if I was able to. I could have been a wet nurse to my Grandson, lol!
It used to be common, back in my Mom's day, for women to help out with each other's babies like that. Mom and her sisters all started families about the same time, and nursed each other's kids regularly.

I never had to nurse another woman's baby, but would if there was a need. I think it's awesome that you helped your sister out like that and I would definitely do the same for mine.
I had excess breast milk that I pumped for a friend to give her baby until she was able to produce her own. It is a wonderful gift!

Sure. It's common in other cultures. I once babysat my bottle fed nephew, and making his bottles was so much trouble, that I would have preferred to nurse him (my sister isn't so cool about that sort of thing, and her husband would have freaked out). Kudos for helping out--that's totally normal in traditional cultures.

What you did was very good. This is your sister and you were very helpful to her. Nursing even a stranger's baby would be okay too as long as there are reasons for it (and the woman is healthy).

that's a really selfless thing to do and really kind of you to help your sis. I would do that if I had a sister, but not for a stranger. Maybe it's because I'd be concerned about germs/sore cracked nipples getting infected, and other things, but I wouldn't make a habit of it. It's so nice that you were able to do that though!

Absolutely! I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I also am not opposed to bottle feeding, tho. Both my kids were breast fed initially, but I switched them to formula after a month.(Exaustion, and I couldn't deal with it!)
My stepgrandmother used to nurse me for my mom(my half uncle is 11 months older than I am) when mom needed a break.

I think that is truly sweet of you. I don't think I could do it for just any woman but if I had a sister I could or I would for my best friend who is just like my sister.
