My girlfriend finished with me 2 weeks ago. Then yesterday, she sent me a message to ask if I'd like to go for a drink with her, only as friends, where we could just chat etc. I after thinking long and hard agreed. The problem was that the drink was terrible, she just started having a go at me,basically saying why she finished with me, and that she's seeing a new guy now, who's much 'better'...i just got quite upset...and i admitted rather stupidly that i had strong feeling for her, and that i loved her....she replied...that i didn't mean it...and then i just walked out...about 2 hours after, i got a message saying that she was sorry for all the hurtful stuff she said. i didn't reply. then today, i get another message saying that she wanted to be friends with me, if i wanted to, and she says she thinks it can work.....i haven't replied yet...what should i do...feel like not replying! we dated for 18 months & were good friends before!

Maybe in time you two can be friends, but it sounds like right now you both need a bit of space. Doesn't sound like you two are being very good friends to each other right now, it sounds like you are still hashing out the breakup. I would ask her for some space, and then when you are ready you can get a hold of her to try to be friends. I think she's torturing you because she's still hurt about the break up, and you are obviously still hurt, so I would take some time to remember what you like about her, and move on. It's hard to just stop talking for a while, but I think it'll be worth it when you two are ready to be friendly again. Otherwise, you may not want to be friends when you guys are done hurting each other. (Sounds like she's doing a bit more of it than you, but you don't want to resent her, right?)

Leave well enough along. She has moved on with her life so you should do the same. And the friendship thing well do it only if you are strong enough to handle being her friend. Because I am sure she is going to talk about her new boyfriend to you and since you still have feelings for her you are going to be hurt. The best thing is not to be friends with her right now. Tell her that you still care for her and find it difficult to be around her knowing that she no longer feel the same as you do. Don't continue to give yourself heartache after heartache. Give yourself time to heal and perhaps down in life you and her can become friends again. Take care and Good luck.

you did and are doing the right thing by not answering her rt away...give her the gift of missing you..DONT WUSS OUT or change anyhting you are doing....if this is "the one", which I personally doubt, but only you will know in the end, I would strongly suggest you start talking to other women and staying busy and let her know this..don't answer all her messages..let her come to you and see if she improves her behavior..most people want what they can't have..aslo, never tell her how you "feel" about ther, be aloof and indifferent but of course stay friends if you want that of her..
there are sooo many women ...
good luck

well actually you should reply to her and said we could be good friends as perbefore, besides that you should forrgive her and strt to build your friendship true that way. Maybe in that particular way it might for you to love her back and it could start the love reliationship. Forget the past and start to a new reliationship it is good for you to said it straight away instead of you just keeping into your heart, to me you did not act stupidly but it is a smart way. try to see her again and maybe you could build up a new strong friendship.... all the best.......

A clean break's probably the best idea - look out for yourself! She has no right to keep you attached to her just to soothe her own conscience.

You already gave her a chance to get back to a friendship, and she messed that up in a big way. I'd be saying "thanks for what you've been to me, but after that I don't think it's possible to backtrack to 'just friends' - I wish you the best but I need to move on."

I'd politely tell her what she could do to herself.
