After all the disagreeing I have done here with his policies, I have to give credit where credit is due. I saw some really great things this week in Bush's visits down south and the work he is doing for alternative bio-fuels. I watched him last night talk for a bit about it and he really does sound like he knows what he is doing with the fuels, so, I say, MR. Bush, bring us the biop-fuels! Anybody else think he did a good job this week?

I need to disagree, and point out that Mr. Bush has a hidden agenda when it comes to alternative fuels. The one alternative fuel George doesn't talk about is the one his oil buddies hate.
*
When George came to power, California had a program that was making electric cars available for lease to drivers in California. This program was vehemently opposed by oil interests. One of the first things George did was to work with the oil companies to kill this program. Automakers then refused to allow existing lease drivers to buy their electric cars, took back the cars and CRUSHED them. This story is told in the movie, 'Who Killed the Electric Car.'
*
In place of the electric car program, the Bush administration gave us a fuel cell research program. What's wrong with this?
Basically, practical fuel cell vehicles are decades away. Fully practical electric cars were very close. Consider that a fuel cell car IS an electric car, including batteries (fuel cells have a low current output, so batteries are still needed for acceleration.)
*
This means that electric vehicles have to be perfected BEFORE fuel cell cars can be perfected, and a fuel cell vehicle will always be more expensive than a plain electric car, because the FCV is an EV with an added fuel cell.
*
Why do the oil companies like the hydrogen idea? Because they can still control the infrastructure. But hydrogen is an unnecessary part of an electric car. Even biofuels are liked better than electric by the oil industry, because they can still process and distribute fuel. But the pure EV is a better idea, and the technology is ready NOW.

Look what has been developed despite NO HELP from the current administration:

*
The Phoenix electric pickup truck can:

-Travel up to 250 miles per charge
-Carry 5 passengers plus cargo at 95mph.
-Charges batteries in as little as TEN MINUTES.
-Has batteries that last 250,000 miles (never need replacement.)
*
Yes this is a real car. They are being built for fleet customers right now. And your media isn't even telling you about it.
*
-The cost to drive on electricity is only a penny or two per mile, which beats all the other alt-fuel choices.
-Pollution is also very low, even when powerplants burn dirty fuel, because of the high efficiency of electric vehicles.
-And maintenance on EVs is also extremely low, because electric motors have only one moving part - they can run for decades with no service.

Well, I have to give you some props for being so open minded! You may disagree with him but you are still able to listen and hear some good. Not a lot of people can do that!

I agree that helping the economies of Latin America will help slow illegal immigration to the States, but I also think that a reason for such immigration is a cultural problem of poor and rich.

Oh my god, I think I'm gonna drop dead from a heart attack! Someone is actually giving Bush credit, instead of blindly attacking him, no matter what he does.

I find it absurd that Bush's diplomatic coup resulted in North Korea not pursuing nukes, but the press and Liberals refuse to give him credit. Bush steadfastly maintained that the six party talks would work, while Liberals urged him to acede to North Korea's demand for bilateral talks with the U.S. Bush refused to take the bait, and he was proven right.

Not only do Liberals not admit THEY were wrong, but they won't give Bush credit for North Korea.

Anyway, I believe he is doing a splendid job this week.

Now if only we could reduce our demand for illegal drugs so that Mexico could start doing something about the supply...sheesh
But yes, maybe we can see now that he is serious when he talks about reducing dependancy on oil. Kudos for being honest and beign able to see past the party lines.
