Easy, just use White VinegarYou can lift out many water-soluble stains-including beer, orange and other fruit juices, black coffee or tea, and vomit-from your cotton-blend clothing by patting the spot with a cloth or towel moistened with undiluted white vinegar just before placing it in the wash. For large stains, you may want to soak the garment overnight in a solution of 3 parts vinegar to 1 part cold water before washing.
Older, set-in stains will often come out in the wash after being pretreated with a solution of 3 tablespoons white vinegar and 2 tablespoons liquid detergent in 1 quart (1 liter) warm water. Rub the solution into the stain, then blot it dry before washing.

Normal washing should remove most of these, but really need to know the type of material and whether its black coffee or milk coffee, these questions will determine the best method of removal. And use the wrong thing such as an alkaline solution, you'll easily set the stain. Dont bleach first up. Bleach should alwasy be a last resort. Then again save youself a bunch of time and stress and just take it to a drycleaner. Easy as that. They remove stains for a living. Problem solved.

Method 1- Commercial Stain Remover
Saturate the dirty area with pretreatment laundry stain remover. Wait one minute for the product to penetrate the stain. Launder immediately.
Method 2- Vinegar
To remove coffee (and chocolate stains), mix one teaspoon of white vinegar in one quart of cold water. Sponge on stain and wipe clean.
Method 3- Egg Yolk Solution
Mix the yolk of an egg and a few drops of alcohol with a little warm water. Rub mixture on the stain with a sponge.
Method 4- Baking Soda
Sprinkle a little baking soda on a wet dishcloth to quickly remove coffee and tea stains.
Of the four methods, commercial stain removers do the best job. The other three are effective if you don't have access to laundry supplies -- a restaurant, for instance.
One final tip: if posssible never let a coffee stain set. The more dry the stain, the more rotten your chances are of removing it.

It really depends if it is black coffee or had milk in it.
The milk seems to really leave a worse stain. You may have to use a degreaser if it has milk fat in the stain.
I would pretreat the stain. That new Sunlight Multi Action detergent is great.Wash in either cold or warm water and check again that the stain is gone before you put it in the dryer as drying may set the stain.
