Hi
For something nice but fairly suttle I would try...
River island - They often have very pretty dresses, cocktail style.
Warehouse - They do some lovely dresses - but a lot are dry clean this is fine thou for a cocktail style one that you wont wear very often.
Jane Norman - sometimes have some ncie strapless style dresses.

charity shops have always got black cocktail dress try their an it want cost you a arm an a leg ,or marks&spencer for nice one if you got money to burn .x
