I was induced with all 3 of my childbirths. The first time, because my water broke and I hadn't had any contractions. The second (at 38 weeks) because of pregnancy related high blood pressure. The third (at 38 weeks) because I had already walked around dilated 3 and ready to go for 3 weeks before that. I had no problems being induced. My labor was no longer than it should have been (16 hours, 8 hours and 6 hours respectively). The only bad part was that the contractions came on so hard, so fast, that I had to be on meds for pain. Otherwise, all was fine. I recovered quickly, the babies were fine. I don't understand why he offered to induce you early just because of miscarriage history. I have had 2 myself and my doc never even mentioned it after the middle way scan. But rest assured, inducing is NOT dangerous.

I had 3 induced labours - and thankful for them all! I had high blood pressure and was induced 36 weeks, 38 weeks and 39 weeks.

You get booked into hospital, get your time to go to the delivery ward and they just give you a drug in a drip which brings on the contractions - it is fine!!!

Your doctor must just be worried about your pregnancy. The inducing bit is absolutely okay - don't worry about that, it did not harm me or the baby on 3 occasions. I had 3 births with just gas and air and 3 big healthy (only wee bit early) babies born. Now one did take an infection and had to spend bit of time in hospital, but who is to say he did not contract this on the ward.

For me it is easier to be told, hey next Wednesday you are booked into hospital for your induction, it means that you have a due date and don't have to suffer the agony of waiting around for your waters to break and labour to start.

You go for it - honestly, labour is not as bad as some make out! I would rather give birth than go to the dentist!

Good luck x

I would seriously question in length about this why he wants to induce is it safer then going the full 40wks? is he afraid something is going to happen between wks 38-40? It may just very well be he want to be safe and not take any risks but he needs to share those risks with you! if you are still unsatisfied with his answers even though it is very late in your pregnancy you could still seek a second opinion maybe even another physician in the same office after obtaining more information then revisit the idea and decide what you would like to do also pls let us know how you are or at least me not sure on others feeling but i do like to know how women made out afterwards and how it all turns out. Im sorry this information was not provided to you in the appt. GOOD LUCK

If it has to be done, make sure that this is done for the best interests of your baby and you, for both safety and predictability. It's a case-by-case situation.

how delicate is your pregnancy? carefully weigh the options with what your doctor suggests is the best birth plan for you. are you a candidate for a c-section or a normal birth? you and your baby's health is most important.

Inducing labor is not necessarily a bad thing. The woman beside me at the prep room has to had labor induced because it's her 40th week and she hasn't felt any pre-labor signs. They induced the labor and she and he baby is fine.

I myself did not go through labor, I was in my 39th week and my womb was really crowded with little amniotic fluid. I had to had an emergency c-section. But I wanted a normal birth. So while I was drugged to sleep they tried inducing labor. They found out that my baby had his cord around his neck so we had no choice but to do the cs.

you might also want to do elective C-section. From what you shared with us, you've had three miscarriages.. If it makes you feel more secure, you may consult another OB for a second opinion.

But most of all do not be afraid. Talk to your OB about this hesitation of yours, ask him to be open about the risks and what should be done for you to have the best possible care.

Why didn't you ask your Dr why he wanted to induce you? Thats the only person who knows why he said that. But being induced has its risks. Google induced labor and you will finds lots of info on it. Although I was induced with my son because he had been having heart problems (way low with contractions) I had contractions since 31 weeks (normal). Anyways and during my induction I got a WAY high fever and my sons heartrate went down to like 60 bpm. Which this may have been caused by induction or it may have happened because he already had low heart rate. But there are risks of induction but there are pluses too. Labor is one thing with pregnancy you cant plan and being induced gives you that advantage. Being induced things normally go alot smoother throughout your labor as well!

Inducing your labor is totally outrageous, that doc has no grounds for it. Don't let them tell you what you have to do, you have a choice. I f the life of you or the baby was in any danger then a c-section would probably be the best way to go but it doesn't sound like you have any problems, it's your body and your baby and if you don't want to be induced do not be forced into it. if your labor is induced you will more than likely have more medical intervention and you don't want that, believe me i have been there , had my first induced and my second was natural and the second was a much more pleasurable experience. good luck with that, you stand your ground xxx

Ask him for an explanation. Ask him why they offer it, what are the advantages and risks of inducing, and not inducing. Get him to explain everything to you, all the options and the reasons for them. Once you have all the information you can make an informed decision. This is you and your baby you have a right to as much information as you need and if you are confused you have a right to have the situation clarified.

he offered it due to your miscarriage history meaning that they consider your pregnacy high risk and would prefer to have you in the hospital when labor begins so that should something go wrong in the early stages they can detect it versus if you at home and then something happens bad it may be too late and then you get a still born but no its not dangerous to induce labor your contractions may hurt a little more in the beginning and the labor may be slightly longer since inducing is forcing labor to start but you will be monitored the whole time and things will be fine good luck

He is saying that for a reason, maybe you should go and talk to him again or speak to your midwife if you are feeling unsure, They wouldnt induce you for no reason and im sure you wouldnt want to risk losing this beauitful baby. The doctors do know what there doing. I was induced at 34 weeks but for different reasons. So have trust in him but speak to him and ask him to explain.

She grow to learn by employing the scientific group that it grow to be braxon hicks contractions and to pass abode and relax. some days later she rushed to the ER using fact there grow to be some thing heavily no longer suitable with the toddler's strikes and she or he introduced an entire-term miscarriage. thankfully for her, she did no longer supply up and is now the proud mamma of two appealing ladies - 8 & 5 - finished of life and character. For what ever reason her first 2 infants weren't meant for this international.
