you don't want a hamster. they carry diseases and bite hard. they poop a lot too and don't like humans much. you're better off with fish.

First off, change your thinking. Getting grounded won't get you a hamster, it just doesn't make sense, if anything it'll make it harder to get a hamster.

Strike a deal with your mom. Ask her what you need to do in order for her to let you get a hamster. For example if she wants you to wash the dishes after dinner every night for a month. Then you meet your end of the bargain and so must she.

You did imply you'd do anything.

Depends how old you are?
My 6 year old keeped on and on,-(my god) I gave in, WORST thing I could have done, we have had the hamster over 1 year now, and to be honest it was excellent for her for a few day, but they sleep all day, and only seem to come out at night, so (mum ends up putting them in the exercise ball) and I end up cleaning him out) they are boring for children-no good to be honest try asking for a different animal...

My 6 year isn't bother anymore-and don't think she ever was after a few days -ask for a D's instead-(more money-YES, but at least you can get a Dalmatian and friends game-and you have to keep them alive or they run away)
She has paid more attention to that than the hamster..

Perhaps you need to ask your Mom why she doesn't want you to get a hamster, maybe she's afraid of them, or that she may end up having to care for the hamster when you get bored of it, These are all questions that you and your mom need to ask each other , Good luck.

That is probably your problem right there 'I don't care if it results in me getting grounded'. You need to step up on your chores. Doing things around the house (dishes, vacuuming, dusting, mow the yard, shovel the sidewalk, etc) to prove the you are responsible and can take care of a pet.

Good Luck!

Tell her that hamsters are easy to care for and that they're fun to torture. You can put it in one of those clear plastic balls.....and then toss it around like a football. Or- when it is on that spinning wheel.....use a pencil to spin the hell out of the wheel. (Note- repeating this action will eventually kill the hamster due to shock.)

Seriously though- you could just bring the hamster into your home and let it run free.....your mom will probably assume it's the house mouse.....if she tries to kill it.....just intervine (dislodge the mousetrap striker, etc.).
That way- you'll have a pet...............and your mom won't even know it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

try writing a letter telling her of all the research that you have done. (cost, care, how often to clean the cage, ect) I am trying to get my parents to let me get a rabbit and that is my method. hope it works out! good luck

Hamsters are messy and they tend to stink if you don't maintain them right.
