my father-in law,and mother-in law got divorced about 20 years ago,sadly my father-in law died three weeks ago and now we have to try and sort out some insurance policys he had.one of the companys has asked for proof of his divorce,my mother-in law has no proof,i was just wondering if anybody knows where we can obtain such imformation??thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about your father-in-law ;o( You can obtain a copy from the court house that dealt with their divorce(the one that granted them the nisi). It doesnt cost £25, its approx £10, we got one for our forthcoming wedding last week. Good luck xx

There should be a record of the divorce either with the court records if you know where they were submitted and you may be able to get copies for a fee or contact his solicitor

They have to request a copy in the court ghouse where they got divorce, Yes, thay keep a copy.

Usually this information will be stored with the solicitor that dealt with the divorce. Failing that try contacting the court that dealt with the divorce.

the county courthouse leeps all marriage and divorce records on file, as well as birth records. just call your county courthouse or try calling the county couthouse were they would have filed there divorce papers.
