Im 30 weeks this weeks pregnant and have started getting Braxton hicks on and off for the last couple of weeks. All the books/websites say they shouldn't hurt, but mine really do! The cramping won't subside until Ive stood up slowly and gently, and they are really really uncomftable. I spoke to doc today and he says everythings fine, but i wondered if anyone else has suffered painful ones?

I get painful Braxton-Hicks sometimes too. I don't care what my (male) doctor says, they hurt. As long as they aren't regular and/or getting closer together, it's fine. Being dehydrated can make them worse, so try to drink a lot of water. Changing position can also help - if you are laying down when they start, try getting up and doing something, and vice versa.

Good luck with your little one!

You should be okay if you drink lots of water.

I had been dehydrated from going into the city on a hot day and walked around for hours. I came home and told my husband that it felt like bad gas, so he went to the store to get me Mylanta Gas or something. After drinking lots of water, the pain went away.

it is different for everyone (and apparently for every pregnancy as well). mine didn't hurt - i went in two weeks before due date for a planned c-section, and the RN told me i was having contractions as soon as she put the monitor on my belly... it just felt like my stomach muscles were tightening up & my whole belly would get hard as a rock. my cousin's hurt like the devil and she ended up going to the hospital twice and being sent home for her first, but didn't have them at all for her second baby. try some breathing exercises, like the ones they show you in lamaze class.

you should be seeing the doc every two weeks by now. if you are still really concerned, let them know at your next exam.

and, mazeltov on your happiness!!

Some women experience painful ones while others don't! Mine weren't too bad, but they hurt a little bit. Every woman is different, believe me, no two pregnancies are the same!

Mine sent me to the hospital Sunday morning, it was a VERY intense pain in my lower abdoment that came on very quickly. Ended up spending about 3 hours in the hospital before they finally stopped. That experience reaffirmed my decision to get the epidural LOL

Towards the end of my pregnancies they did hurt. I don't know why Dr.s tell you they don't. It's totally normal though. Just your body getting ready. If they don't subside, or become pretty consistent and close together though, I would call your doc. right away. Good luck and congrats.
