It depends. Chances are you will really care about the pictures later than looking good that night. Take a camera, even a phone camera while you try on dresses. Try them in light, dark and medium colors in a fairly dark environment. What you are looking for is wash out where you look like a ghost or the blob effect where everything blends together and looks like you are wearing a big plastic bag. Do not use a magazine because they use a lot of light and they retouch the photos. If you are using a digital cameral, see how the pictures look in color and black and white (year book prom pictures).

Hi, I would say Ivory or a very pale yellow. I have got pale skin and im getting married, and my dress is ivory. I know its not the same as a prom but most wedding dress stockist sell promdresses. You will want to look fab on your prom and remember less is more, Ive seen some prom dresses and the colours are hideous.

I think the exact opposite of alex (sorry, no offense meant). Strong colours make pale skin looked washed out. You need to be subtle with your skin and hair but it is a fine line between complementing your tones and looking dull and uninteresting. I'd say go for a nice powder blue or pale green. Take a tip from Kate Winslet's Oscars look (see link and, just to point out, look how over-done and too 'try hard' the blonde lady in the red dress behind her looks).

Hmm... I always thought Kate Hudson looked great in that pale yellow dress in "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" and she is kinda pale and blonde. White would look good, light blue or navy, champage gold, or pink too.

Hi

I think lighter colours will suit you best. Look at these prom dresses below (its more the colours im trying to show you here rather than the styles) I think the colours of the ones Ive picked will go with your hair and skin tone.

They are really cute and good prices too!

Go with what alex suggested. i was gonna give you a list of colors but it would be repeating what she put down. i agree with the colors she picked for you and choose the one you like from the list and decide about the style of the dress.
have fun at the prom!!!

I would go for turqoiuse, coral, chocolate brown, or deep purple - like the purple that Reese Witherspoon wore to the Oscars. She is fair and blonde, and she looked stunning in it. She was on the best-dressed lists for it.

I also think any greens would look good on you.

But not pastels or anything really light! It will wash you out.

something quite pale like a pastel colour, pink or powder blue? to much of a harsh colour could wash you out. add a bit of glitz with some fantastic sparkly jewelry and killer heels
