i see a lot of people wearing them and personally,i think there are kid of ugly.

They are. People have poor taste. It's a descent into the visceral or sensuous. Funny you should mention that - I worked in a shoe warehouse. There was an overstock on high topped leather boots with a high heel.
Somebody mused on them saying:
" You get a whip with these? "
The funny part is leather doesn't keep out the cold as well as a cloth material coat does. Same with even the best quality leather shoes.

Not everyone likes leather jackets because I don't like them. Things go into style and things go out of style. I guess it's just a phase.
