That is quite a silly question. You can easily find payment calculators at Yahoo finance and elsewhere. As a rule of thumb, you should have your mortgage payments no larger than a third of your income (unless your income is very high and your expenses very low). And you should opt for a shorter return time (15 years), as you will pay much less interest - unless you don't plan to live in that house for a long time.
That said, some people will live in Manhattan or Boston in a tiny nook and pay over $1000 rent. Each to his own.

I located the ideal spot, dug a hole, expanding a cave, and now do not pay a cent for rent.
This was 26 months ago, and now I am secure, if survival is security.
I pity those with mortgages.
Slaves, all.
Pay thy debt, and live.
People, can you not see the future at all? Death is breathing down your neck, yet you still think you will retire.
Wake up, aleady.
Yes, I am a fool. And I'll be a fool long after you have been led off to slaughter, wondering how you may escape, to find a cozy cave, far from cameras...with food, water, a few books and a very warm sleeping bag.
When society collapses, I'll cease being that fool.
It won't be long.
WATCH.
