Boys at this age are usually larger than girls so maybe keep that in mind. My preference for my son has always been huggies. They are a better value than pampers, leak less and have a cuter print. I found that my son around 6-8 months started to slow down growing. For a boy I would buy size 5 and for a girl size 4. But as long as you keep the receipt and purchase them close to the time you will be giving them to her then she can always exchange them. Huggies also always has good coupons for their products which is nice because baby stuff is so expensive. But when it comes to diapers you have to buy whats best. Also when you go to buy them you will see that huggies has a white package and a red package. The red package (although a little more expensive) is better for children that are moving around walking or crawling. They have a better fit so less leakes.
I hope I was of some help, good luck. Trista

Huggies Size 4. My son is 18 months and very "true to size" with respect to clothing & diaper sizes. He is one of the only babies I know that has always fit perfectly into the size that matches his age (instead of having buy bigger).
The weight range for Huggies size 4 is 22 to 37 pounds (a HUGE range). These should definitely accomodate the average 1 year-old (average weight for a one year-old is around 22 pounds). As far as brands go, I have tried them all and Huggies is my favorite. They are soft, easy to use and don't leak. Although Huggies are not quite as soft as the Pampers, Pampers uses perfumes that gave my son a rash both times I tried them. Congrats to your friend:)

My son is 22 months and wears size 5 very comfortably. We like both Pampers Baby Dry and Pampers Cruisers the best. Huggies seemed to leak more at night.

I also say size 3 or 4. I'd recommend either Huggies or Pampers (we use either depending on which is the cheaper of the two at the time).

Probably between size 5 and 6. Buy the bigger size, the baby will grow into them if too big, but if they are too small they will be wasted. Pampers are the best. Some people like the WalMart brand.

Pampers are good. For a one year old i would say size 3 or 4 both should work.

Huggies for sure!!! I dunno if its a boy or girl, but I have boys and Huggies work the best! My son is 16mths old and in a size 5...he is a little bigger than the average kid though. So maybe a pack of 4's and 5's if its a 1-2 yr old. Or Bigger is always OK...so if it were me, I'd rather you just get 5's!
