I'm nearly revolted at the selfishness and laziness that "certain" people show. This world owes no one anything, you make a way for yourself and your kin, and get over it.

I don't think anyone believes the world owes them a living.

And I agree with you that the world owes you nothing. Unless the world (or part of it) takes something from you.

I'm from New Hampshire. No state sales tax. No state income tax. No state benefits. Property owners pay property taxes, which pays for the roads, and the public schools, the courts, and fire and police departments. Other than that, you're on your own.

If the government doesn't take money from people, then the government doesn't owe people anything. But if the government is forcibly taking 25% to 50% of someone's income, it becomes a very different story.

I am very curious to know who you think are "certain" people? Can you define that?

As far as liberals go, I have been and will continue to be a liberal until the day I die. I have a full-time job and pay taxes and ask no one for anything. However, since I am not a narrow-minded jerk, I don't mind giving anyone a helping hand who is in need.

Perhaps you should look to yourself for an evaluation of your standards and morals.

Do conservatives think they can steal from the majority forever, many times illegally?

Certain people? Those who are unemployed because the free market runs on "supply and demand" and there will ALWAYS be unemployed!

Or are you talking about the vast majority who are children, the elderly and the disabled! Want children to go back to sweatshops like you use to have?

"DSS hunts for kids after raid: Feds scooped up parents as illegals at ‘sweatshop’
By Dave Wedge
Boston Herald Chief Enterprise Reporter

Thursday, March 8, 2007 - Updated: 01:24 AM EST

State officials are scrambling to track down children left behind at schools and day cares when their parents were detained by an immigration raid on a New Bedford “sweatshop.”

“The troops that stormed the factory are better at corraling people than dealing with family issues,” said state Sen. Mark Montigny (D-New Bedford).

Since 300 federal agents swept into the New Bedford factory Tuesday, reports have poured into the Department of Social Services and other agencies about children being left behind with babysitters, day-care providers and relatives with little information on their parents............

Workers were allegedly assisted in obtaining phony work papers, fined for talking and bathroom breaks and worked long hours to pump out military vests and other gear under the company’s $91 million government contract, federal officials allege.

Authorities say DSS has stepped in to help 35 children from 30 families, but U.S. Rep. William Delahunt (D-Quincy) said there may be as many as 70 other detainees with dire family issues.

“We need to have more information, and there has to be better coordination,” Delahunt said. “It’s incumbent on the federal authorities to cooperate fully.”

The company’s owner, Francesco Insolia, 50, and three managers are facing federal charges of conspiring to hire illegal aliens. Insolia was reportedly out of jail and back at the factory working yesterday."

A $91 MILLION DOLLAR government contract no less! Don't conservatives have any shame?

Oh, the herald is a conservative rag!

By the way, none of the illegals were Mexican!

Most liberals works for a living.

Whoever keeps telling you that no liberals work for a living has been lying to you; don't listen to them any more.

As a part of the social contract that is the Constitution, should there not be 100% free, fair and HONEST elections? The right wing tried to argue that there is NO right to vote guaranteed by the Constitution in 2000.

I work 6 days a week because we are short help. I also support a young man who is mentally ill and can not keep a job, and would otherwise become a burden on society.

So you have a strange way of defining selfishness and laziness.

So what do you do for your community?

See, you think that everyone actually still has a chance and a way to do that.

What we're saying, is that we know that people who are born into poor families, with only rare exceptions, cannot escape that poverty. They can't afford good schooling for their children. They can't be around making sure that their children do their homework. Furthermore, despite both parents working hours and hours of minimum wage jobs they still can't afford to feed their children.

Adults working full time jobs have the right to be able to make a decent living and feed their children, but currently that is not possible with minimum wage jobs. THAT, is why we liberals support programs to help the poor.
