I was on vacation for 1 week and I left my fish with one of the 7-day feeding cubes. When I came home 2 nights ago I found my fish laying on the bottom of the tank. I cleaned his water and he just lays there. He's not eating and every so often he'll try to swim to the top. Then, he just falls to the bottom. This morning he fell on his head and then just laid on his side on the bottom. I'm not sure what to do and I'm afraid he's suffering. His color is dulled and he has some gray around his head and body. Please help if you can.

Those cubes are more plaster of Paris than fish food. It likely changed the chemistry of your water. It also sounds like your betta might be suffering from nitrate poisoning. How much of his water did you change? Try doing another partial water change (slowly, so the water chemistry doesn't change too quickly) of about 25-50%. Make sure the new water is about the same temperature as the old, and be sure to remember the drops to remove chlorine!

Your Beta could have been old whilst you bought him. beginning gills like that the two potential he's piss or lacks oxygen. maximum folk don't be attentive to this yet Betas won't final long in bowls. you like a appropriate set as much as maintain a Beta alive. i'm speaking 5-10 gallon tank, undergravel filter out, small gravel, an air pump, heater (they like eighty-88 diploma water), look after like a cave or ridge, plant life, an algae eater, and brine shrimp. 5-10 gallons to offer him area Undergravel filter out to maintain the tank sparkling without doing familiar cleansing which will rigidity him out. Small gravel to create a extra useful recycler. An air pump to potential the filter out. look after so he can conceal. He feels safer so much less rigidity. rigidity kills betas. plant life to help recycle. An algae eater to scrub the tank further. Brine cut back using fact Betas are carnivores and choose meat to be healthful.

Those feeding cubes are bad news for a Betta. He is is dire straits and isn't likely to live much longer. I'd try melafix for a week and see if he recovers. With any luck your fish will be ok.

The gray color around his head and body could be a fungal infection. Does it look like cotton? You can get antibiotics from the pet store for this.
