Think about it.
You know you have something to say, but you don't speak what is truly on your mind.
We lie to each other everyday.
You say one thing, but mean another.
examples:
1. A gas attendant tells you "Have a good day." Do you think that is really what they mean?

2. He says he loves her, but he really means, sure you are here, but I feel empty. If I tell you that, I would hurt your feelings. I don't want to deal with that right now.

3. OR if you never tell someone how you feel, all you are doing is lying. Lying to yourself and the other person.

4. And here, on Answers, some questions are so ridiculous, you know you want to just tear themn apart. (Legally on Y!A, would be just telling the truth from your standpoint.) But, instead you think of what the person might want to hear so you can have a better chance getting Best Answer.

OR AM I WRONG?
This is a serious, thought out...and philosophical question. I thank you for the same answers in kind.

No you are not wrong. You make a good point and I understand. You wish people did away with social niceties and spoke from the heart at all times or not speak at all.

I have a Category that particularly upsets me and makes me want to murder other people so I stay away from there. Go where you are comfortable because this is not life and you can enjoy it while you are here. None of us Have to be here so we must all have a common thread running through us.@80)

I think I say what I mean.

Yes I get a lot of that phony friendly crap.

A lot.

I just shine it on. By now it's automatic. Unless there's something about the person I like or pick up on, I can try and turn it around and make it real.

People don't want you to be real. That's first up.

Oh, Q&A is a public forum. You get the ridiculous and the sublime. If you're looking for Utopic don't put bets on earth right now.

Personally - the boy girl thing?

That's something you NEVER go public with if it's real or means anything at all to you.

I think most people that post those things are basically nowhere.

Because relationships are causal/unpredictable, there's no standard - pat response for any given situation.

They're all new. They're all different. Even if they all look the same.

If it's someone you care about, you'll find it tough to say anything to a stranger about them because they're special to YOU, and you want them undefiled.

Hope this helps.

People come on here looking for those who will come up and take pity for their ignorance, their lack of common sense, and who will give blind faith in all they are saying. There are so many far fetched bogus lies out there and people buy everything they spew. Instead of calling them out or confronting them people take the self-made victim and put them on pedestals. It is the PC crowd that has made everyone into mindless victims of their own imagination. I could go on forever about this, but choose not to. I'll save some for all those wonderful posts floating around out there.

As far as the "have a good day" people, some do honestly mean this. At the same time after a while it is nothing more than habit. I wouldn't go so far as to call a person a liar if they don't express themselves. That is more of a coward, somebody who is terrified they may upset or offend somebody.

It depends on who it is and how they feel.

1.The gas attendant...might be sincere, and want to make others feel good. Or maybe he's paid to say that. Money talks.

2.Deals with not hurting the other person, plus he probably doesn't want to lose what he has, even though he's not completely happy. Something is always better than nothing.

4.Just plain selfishness to get that best answer.

Some people are introverts, some extroverts. It all depends on who they value the most.

Very good point, i agree people are really like this. I think people just don't want to hurt the other, everyone cares too much about what the other person thinks about them to actually say what they mean. Your theeory about yahoo is soooo right, you completely disagree with the person, or have no knowledge of what they are talking about but you make up alot of sophisticated sounding **** in hopes to get e best answer. Most people are just spineless, i think. Although i do have this issue myself with certain people...i think it is just kinda....how we're programmed. :]

I tell people exactly what I mean, if I'm in the mood. Sometimes I just feel like saying "you too" to the attendant and saving myself 5 minutes of conversation.
