hi, im a gynae nurse and i can tell you that you are far too young, unless it was for medical reasons, i.e cancer, they would not perform a hysterectomy, whatever your problems are i think you need to get your GP to refer you to see a gynaecologist...you have to think about whether you want children or would like anymore in the future.
we only perform hysterectomys, on ladies that either have cancer, suffer with very heavy painful periods and meet certain criteria or have post menopausel bleeding...i'd get some advice first .

Yes, 25 is too young for a partial hysterectomy. I was 24 when my doctor told me I would have to have a partial hysterectomy, and that was something I could not accept. So I went for a second opinion and it was the best thing I ever did. I found a doctor that could give me the surgery I needed and leave everything intact. You don't say why you need a parital hysterectomy, but if you have any doubts, GET A SECOND OPINION!!! If the doctor still tells you you need a hysterectomy, if they leave your ovaries, you won't need HRT, but if they take everything, the doctor may suggest it to you. Good luck!

A full hysterectomy is very harsh at your age, there are many more precedures that can be done instead of a hysterectomy, depending on the reason you have been offered one. If it is for excessive bleeding or irregular and heavy bleeding you should ask about a procedure called an MEA. This procedure actually stops all bleeding in about 90 % of women but it can be performed twice. It is a procedure only to be considered if you do not want any more children and all other treatments have been tried. As for Hrt only if ovaries are to be removed which is now quite rare.

25 is kind of young, but if you are keeping your ovaries then you won't need HRT drugs, your ovaries will continue to produce hormones,... you just won't have a period anymore or be able to get pregnant. why are you having a partial hysterectomy? I'm guessing you must have severe endometriosis, or some form of cancer.

DON'T LET THEM TAKE YOUR UTERUS!

a million hysterectomies are done every year, about 90% of them could be treated in other ways. It's female castration. And if if it were men's hanging down parts involved, you'd better believe there'd be something done about it!

Research the topic. there are numerous books on the subject.

And in the meantime, get a second opinion. And a third. And a fourth, if necessary.

I had one 4 months ago at the age of 38. I had it done because of my very heavy periods and I am glad I did it. I have one ovary so I do not need hormones. Good luck and God Bless
