Well, you can use an MP3 Encoder to reduce your songs bit rate, if you have some add-ins in Windows Media Player you can do it from there. If you don't you can download a software at

Search in the Sound & Music Category>Audio Compressors
and look for Batch Audio Converter 1.5. And the best thing: It's Free!

You'll have to look at the specs of the player to see what it can play, then convert your files to that format.

For instance, wma is smaller in general, or you can convert to lower bitrate mp3.

if you have an ipod, you can convert the file to AAC, which is smaller.

You can also make them a lower bitrate, but you will loose sound quality.
