Does the storyline make sense if i go ahead and buy the second one? ( Never played first )

I would think they will tell the story of the first one at the beginning of god of war 2 because the end of the first one starts with god of war 2. It is just a continue of the first one. when he took his place as the god of war.


Only thing you need to know is Kratos beat Aries and became the new God of War.

It might make a little sense, but it is easier to understand if you play through the first one before playing through the second, so you can get where everything is coming from. But, if you don't feel like buying and playing the first one, you can go onto game site forums (www.gamefaqs.com, to name one) and look up the storyline for the first one, and then play the second.

I'm sure the developers will fill in any backstory for those who missed the first one so that newcomers can enjoy the game. However it will most likely be a brief synopsys or even a couple of lines. If you want to really know the whole story I would reccomend getting the first one. You don't have to get it but it will help you understand whats going on in a different light than if you hadn't played it at all. So while it's not necessary it would add more depth.
