I had a similar problem. I met with the teacher, the principal, and finally the board. My children were allowed to use the restroom when they needed.
One of the problems...I have two daughters. The male teacher kept asking the oldest one why she needed to go to the restroom. He and I had a chat and he stopped asking her.
When the children's health is involved, I'm not allowing a teacher with petty concerns stand in the way.

You should always go to the teacher first with any concerns. Did the teacher or the principal assign the detention? Do the kids get a restroom break scheduled during the day? When I taught 6th grade, students were given a 5 minute break every hour. They also had 3 emergency bathroom passes to use each semester. After they used them, they were not allowed to go to the restroom.
Did the child get the detention for skipping? Being disrespectful? Did he end up going to the restroom without permission?
I understand how upset you are with this being your child. I have two children in school also, so I understand from the teacher and the parent standpoint. However, if teachers allowed all students to go to the restroom every time they asked, there would be no learning at all.

If your child has a medical condition (frequent urination or something similar), bring a note from your medical doctor regarding the condition. Not knowing the situation surrounding this issue, it is hard to determine what really happened and what was said between the student and teacher. I am a high school teacher, so I know about those kids who always seem to have to go to the restroom, some are legit, others are social visits. I have not taught middle school students (thank goodness), but realize that teachers are dealing with 20 or so pre-teens at once. We have pressures to pass our students, to teach to the state standardized tests (which they must pass), deal with administrators, deal with high, middle, and low acheiving students, and so on. I have seen too many parents "jump the gun" with situations without even knowing the teacher side of the story. Call and set up an appointment with the teacher (not the principal) and follow the chain of command - teacher, assistant principal, principal, superintendent, school board. Hopefully things will get resolved.

I think u should ask the teacher why he/she didn't sent u're child to the restroom, if the teacher doesn't have a good reason u should go to the principal,if the principal doesn't do anything about it u go to the school board.

certainly. ok, he could be slightly previous due- yet come pn. it particularly is ridiculous. Why won't have the ability to they understand that he isn't used to it? ok, I understand they're attempting to instruct the pupils to be punctual, yet 6:30 AM?! And worse, on the 1st DAY! and are available on, 4 minutes previous due? it particularly is comparable to a 2nd. 6:30 am sounds like a super soreness interior the rear. i think of that instructor has some subject concerns. honestly, i'm a popular twelve months college student and whilst i became into in 6th grade, I did got here previous due, yet I in no way had something like this.

Go up to the teacher and give her a piece of your mind! Sounds like something my math teacher would do.
