When everything is all said and done, what is more beneficial, leaving questions blank and not gaining any points or risk guessing and losing 1/4 of a point for every wrong answer??

SAT's are so stupid! I got into college that average score was 1300 and i got a 1100.. without even a good gpa.

Guess all depends on you. If you can limit your choices to 2 out of four then go for it. But even when the 2 choices are really hard guess on it, because theres bound to be another like it and you will have a better chance of getting .75 of a point rather then -.5pts.

If you can limit answers, then i would recommend you skipping it.

My Scores for Critical Reading.

1st time i took it I got a 480
Number Right: 33, Number Wrong: 23, Number Omitted: 11, Total Number of Questions: 67, Raw Score: 27

2nd time 470
Number Right: 30, Number Wrong: 25, Number Omitted: 12, Total Number of Questions: 67, Raw Score: 24

3rd time 440
Number Right: 26, Number Wrong: 23, Number Omitted: 18, Total Number of Questions: 67, Raw Score: 20

As you can see since i omitted more i got a more terrible score. And yes i prove the "you do better the second or third time you take it" Because i suck at life :/ Anyways i still got into the college i wanted to (state university). So good luck with your SAT's. And dont spend too much on tutors, its such a waste.

It is always the most beneficial to guess, as long as you a) cross off any answer that you are positive isn't the right answer and b) guess randomly. Because there are 5 choices for every question you have a 1/5 chance of getting it right. So you should get one right (+1 point) for every four wrong (4*1/4= -1 point) so you would be even. The more you can cross out, the better your odds become.

Good Luck!

If you have absolutely no clue, don't guess. If you can narrow down the answers to one or two options, then go ahead and guess. Remember, 4 wrong answers negates one right one, so it's better to leave an answer blank than guess wrong.
