I'll do some checking. What's the wallcovering, or is it just paint?
In order to remove the wax drippings, simply apply an ice cube or ice pack to the wax to harden it. Gently scrape off as much wax as you can with a plastic credit card or other nonabrasive item such as a thin, dull butter knife or a smooth, plastic ruler.
Some of the wax residue may remain, especially if you have been extremely careful not to scratch the surface. Simply use a soft, clean cloth and apply a bit of cleaner to the area. Rub gently and remove the remainder of the wax residue.

I'd start with a painters' five in one tool. Be careful - the new ones are actually pretty sharp. Then you might try an iron set on a medium heat. Please a paper towel or rag between the wax and the iron, heat for a while, fold the towel over to a clean spot and repeat. There are some products that claim to remove the wax, but I'd be really careful with those. Most are petroleum based and may very well leave a greasy spot on your wallcovering.

Ice.
If you ever have class handle holders with wax stuck in the bottom, simply pop them into the freezer and after a few hours. you can simply pop out the wax.
When it comes to walls, take the ice and hold on the spots where it has landed for a few minutes. Eventually, you can take a smooth edge item, like a credit card, and it should just pop off.

Forget all of the other answers and do this. Use your hair dryer and blow hot air on the wax. As it melts, use a paper towel and wipe it off. This method works great on almost any surface.

Scrape it with a credit card... get as much as you can. Then clean it with an all purpose cleaner and soft cloth.
