im guessing your a guy who wants to grow out your hair?
because a girl wouldnt matter.
but i think you should just let it grow out, but take care of it.
dont let it get all gross and knotty.
if you show your mom that you can take care of it long, and keep it looking nice, she might agree with you and think it is ok.
plus, long hair on guys is definately in right now.
if you show her that this is something that all your friends are doing, she might give in.
hope this helps you.
but if she does make you keep it short, dont worry about it.
not all guys look good with long hair. :)

You can't convince her about the hair until you establish that you are growing into an adult. Take extra responsibilities, make sure she never has to remind you to pick up your dishes, socks, anything. Demonstrate the man you are becoming and then bring it up. Tell her you would really like to grow it out and see how it looks and try it out. Tell her that you will earn the money for trims to keep the hair growing nicely and tell her that its part of you becoming a man. Don't try that argument until you have made sure she can't come back with, "A man!? You can't even pick up your room!" Good luck.

I am going to guess you are a guy. Sorry to tell you, some parents do not want their boys to have long hair...period. It was the way they were raised. You can ask to do it as a trial and see what they think, but if they are truly against it, you are going to have to live with short hair until you are of age.

As a parent, this is what I'd suggest "Mom save the agruments for really big issues (like life or death ones) and don't sweat the small stuff". This is only the beginning, you both need to learn to trust eachother.

The best way is to say this:
(depends on your mom)
but mom didn't you have the choice to what ever you wanted to your hair?
All i want is to grow out my hair........
Is that a big deal?

just grow it out. make sure you don't let it get greasy or gross. she'll see that it looks good and odds are she'll let you keep it. my friend did the same thing, and his hair is almost to his shoulders. just request a trial period of long hair, test it out on her. i'm sure she'll go for it eventually.

Ask her what her reasons are against it, and list your reasons for it. Be reasonable and try to work it out. You might ask her to let you do it if you maintain a certain grade level.
