You should talk about how you are so driven and a workaholic, that you even put the company's needs before family and if you're going to have the responsibility for the crew, you want the authority to go with it, and how you don't want to be micro-managed..... I mean all your boss is looking for is someone to do his job so he can take it easy, and plot how he's going to climb up the food chain on your back. Tell him what he wants to hear and your in like Flynn!

Whenever you negotiate $$, let the other party make the first move. Ask them what the salary range is for the position. If they ask you for a number, tell them you'd like to fully understand the job requirements and scope before you toss out a figure.

In terms of "what not to say", it's pretty much the same for managers as for non-managers - don't complain a lot about your current job, boss, or co-workers; don't ask about salary and benefits before you've even sat down; don't talk about your personal problems, your boy/girlfriend, your cat, your paretns, your kids - anything that isn't strictly job-rerlated.

DO talk about your skills, your management experience, how you overcame challenges with difficult people in the past and could do so again, your knowledge of the company - all of the stuff that makes you shine.

Good luck!
