I attend LSU, and there has been an ongoing debate over whether or not it is wrong to portray the confederate flag in LSU's colors (purple and gold). I love you all. Be candid! Peace.

I don't think of slavery when I see it. I think of rednecks. Boozing, beer drinking, shotgun shooting, rottweiler owning rednecks. Though..the term confederacty does bring to mind slavery to some extent.

Well, I can tell you this whenever anyone black sees that flag the automatically attribute you to being a racist. If you think that that flag represents something good of white heritage then you are delusional. That flag directly contradicts the American flag. The confederate flag is nothing more than a symbol of hate towards black men and women. It was use to inflict fear the black race as deplorable acts of hate were being administered. if you agree with slavery then yes this flags represents you. I served for this country as well as my son and many others within my family and we considered it an honor because we fought for freedom and then when we see this symbol of hate, it makes us really wonder about why do people that fly this flag embarrass other decent white people. Continue to fly your flag at least we know what side you are on and what you stand for.

If your flag is purple and gold, how does it offend others? The confederate flag should be in a museum and is. But since we Americans believe in freedom of speech and are allowed to burn our own flags as a statement, what kind of statement is LSU trying to make?
I think the confederate flag symbolized the South's opposition of Lincoln's decrees. They didn't want to lose the "free" labor that gave them their wealth. They wanted to be their own country. They fought and died, brother against brother at times, and lost the war. I live down South and it still makes me wonder when I see a confederate flag flying in someones yard...what about the Stars & Stripes?

I personally don't think so. I think that the states who choose to fly the confederate flag do so in honor of all of their history. It is unfortunate that slavery is part of our past, but we don't have to discard all of our heritage because of one tragic mistake.

No,it's a battle flag.Fly it high and proud. The civil war was not about slavery. It was over individual states rights. That flag has nothing to do with slavery. That's just liberal and n igger bullshit. Every flag day I fly it from my house. No n iggers or liberals will ever tell me I can't. Also,I live in a mostly black neighborhood and no n igger has ever dared touch it. They all know better than to mess with the big crazy white ************ down the street.
