I recently took a home pregancy test and it was positive. However, because my last 2 periods have been very light and very short, it seems like I am more than 3 weeks pregnant. I actually look like I'm pregnant. Is that normal?

Some women do have some bleeding while they are very early in their pregnancy and mistake it for a light period. They don't even know they are pregnant until they don't get a period the next month. This happened to me. When I went in for my first ultrasound I found out I was a month farther along than I thought I was. They also told me a range in which we probably conceived the baby and I remember having a light period after that.

The only way to know for sure how far along you are is to wait until they do your first ultrasound to measure the baby. They'll be able to give you a pretty accurate answer to your question and they may even change your due date at this time.

As far as your body changing, all woman are different. Some begin to look pregnant pretty much right away (especially if you have been pregnant before) and others don't start to show until 3-4 months. It depends on your body. Hope this helps.

If your periods were light the last 2 months Id say your probably around 10-12 weeks along actually. But your Dr. can go an ultrasound to tell you more of an about date. That way you will get to see your baby plus you will know for sure. But they can only tell you for sure before 13 weeks because after 13 weeks your ultrasound could put the baby at 2 weeks smaller than she actually is. SInce every baby grows differently. Good Luck.

The best way to find out is to see a doctor or someone at the clinic. If you know the actual date of your last period they can caculate it on a chart. Also they can also do a test on your urine to measure the hormones in it and it gives you an estimated age of the embryo. This was done for me cause I was on birth control and wasnt having periods for a while..come to find out I was 3mths pregnant and didn't know cause I'm very small and didn't show with my son until I was 5 mths. Good luck!!

The doctor can run a blood HCG test which will tell them fairly accurately how far along you are as well as them doing a pelvic exam. They can tell by feel, they can tell by where the top of your uterus is, and the level of HCG in your blood doubles every few days in the beginning - so they will have a scale to compare where your levels are at and base a due date on that.

If you are not sure how far along you are the doctor will schedule an ultrasound to measure the size of the fetus.
They had to with me and moved my due date up several weeks. What I thought was a period was actually implantation. So it was confusing

There could be a possibility that you are more weeks pregnant than you actually expect to be because there are people that menstruate until their 4th or fifth month. Or even throughout their whole pregnancy, but the only difference is that it is very light menstruation.

At the beginning they will take it from your last period, but the doctor will usually get it down to a better date as you progress and have more and more ultrasounds.

Example: I'm officially 17 weeks along, but the doctor has narrowed it down to closer to 15 weeks as I've gone to two appointments.

each woman is distinctive, for that reason the time you start up feeling warning signs won't be predictable. For me, i did no longer experience something different than fatigue until i replaced into approximately twelve weeks alongside. I even had a era 4 weeks into the being pregnant! by way of three months, i began having morning ailment, and my breasts have been sore and what no longer.
