Both are OK, but I'd prefer the first one--it's only in the first person that you are supposed to put yourself last (My mother and I....)

Did you and your mother go to the store? sounds more appropriate

I am trying to figure this out, and I am a retired elem teacher and all I can say is the first one sounds right and probably is because I have corrected so many things in writing, but ??

They are both grammatically acceptable.

However, I would ask "Did you and your mother go to the store?"
