Apes laugh, this is the universally agreed upon term. It is a little different from people. They cover their teeth with their lips (like a child making an old person face), have their mouths open and breathe in and out rapidly (almost like panting). This is seen in young individuals more than adults and often occurs during play.

I currently work with monkeys (rhesus) and they do not laugh. They do play and seem to enjoy it, but do not share the laugh behavior or play face with apes

Monkeys can laugh.
Hyenas definitely sound like they're laughing. Or grinning.
You cannot maybe see animals laughing, but you can see for sure that they're happy. (Talking about pets).

i think that monkeys and the evolution of monkeys (like us) can laugh. But other animals cannot. Cats and dogs cant laugh but they wag their tails and cats purr when they are happy. Hamsters sniff, cobras stand up, but Im not sure.
