is that a blower motor problem? I changed the resistor, so the air works on all settings, but the air is only coming out from the defroster vents on top of the dash near the windsheild. Help!!

It's not the motor. Those vents are made to default to defrost when the control is bad because that's the one position you can't be without. You have a vacuum controller for the vent door. It can be a vacuum leak in the line going to it or a bad controller.

Your function selector is not working. Most vehicles use a cable to operate a series of doors, behind your dashboard. Other vehicles (most gm) use vacuum from the engine to operate the doors with vacuum motors. If yours are cable- controlled, you need to check the control, and the cable connections on both ends for breakage, looseness, or simply disconnected. If yours are controlled by vacuum, then you need to trace the vacuum lines from one end or the other. If you have had or done work behind the dash( replace the stereo, etc.) I would start behind the dash. If you've done engine work recently, I would check vacuum lines around the area where the work was done. Most likely, someone has knocked something loose, or broken it while working on something else. These things don't break often...

Air door is jambed or a vacuum hose is off. Air control selector could be bad. Defrost is the default.
