I think it says they care about the details. the finishing touches. That's if your out on the town.
You can tell a lot about what they do for a living by their shoes. Muddy work boots would indicate construction or laborer of some sort. While I would doubt you would find the CEO of a large cooperation wearing dingy shoes or muddy boots. I think your gram was a wise woman!
