Hi. Right click on your desktop and click 'Properties> Screesaver tab>". Is you screensaver selected and turned on? Check the settings and make sure you have a reasonable time set. Preview the saver. If this works you should be OK.

dont have any windows open and in a space on the screen right click the click 'properties then click the tab up the top which says 'screensaver' and read it all to make sure all the settings are right.

You have a program or a piece of hardware keeping the system busy .

I had a problem like this. Had set my wireless card power management set wrong and kept my pc on all the time.
