In response to Mikey, what will God care about more? The fact that we love, or the fact that you hate?

1- Religious beliefs don't run our government.
2- We were all born equally, and this includes homosexuals.
3- If you say same-sex marriages are like marrying a dog, you're just insulting yourself. We're all the same on this Earth.
4- A piece of paper won't stop two people from loving each other.
5- It's not threatening to the population. Remember, we can't reproduce!!! We could actually adopt all of the children you've abandoned on the streets or in orphanages.
6- Will the world honestly stop turning if 2 men get married to each other?
7- How is it that you are more comfortable seeing to men holding guns rather than hands?

1. why should anyone tell me I can't marry the woman I love?
2. its the 21st century, times change, people express themselves.
3. why can't two people who are devoted to each other show it just the same as everyone else?
4. Isn't "America" the land of the free?
5. doesn't "America" believe in equality?
6. religion is a personal choice and is not supposed to interfere with state affairs, again, its the 21st century.
7. if a dumb dude like bush can be president, get married, have children and say stupid things out loud, why can't a smart person, who happens to be gay, do it too?

"America" has always gone backwards in comparison to the rest of the world. As the youngest world power, they should learn from everyone else's mistakes. I think the land of the free is actually the land of sold dreams, a land of suffering and debate for every little thing that people are actually ENTITLED to.

Regardless of sexual preference, that land you so ignorantly call "America" is the most repressed piece of earth that exists up to date. (for those of you who don't know yet, America consists of three huge land masses, not only 50 tiny states) At least in Cuba they actually say and acknowledge the fact that there's no "liberty for all". Its sad that the US talks so much about freedom when they actually know nothing about it.

I'm in a so-called third world country where marriage is a right, not a political debate. I'm a woman happily engaged to another woman.

1. To have legal recognition and status for the purposes of personal cohabitation as sanctioned by whichever religious organizations deems fit to confer, without hinderance thereof or thereto.

2. To strengthen the concept of marriage which heterosexuals have tossed aside (see 58% divorce rate and Britneys 55 hr marriage)

3. To confer the rights and privileges of a legal binding contract (which is what marriage is, was and always will be) to wit: inheritance, hospital visitations and decisions, etc.

4. To protect the property rights of the individuals should one pass away re: relatives trying to steal property from the rightful spouse

5. To protect the right of spousal status by means of permitting and/or allowing pension benefits and/or taxation benefits as guaranteed by law.

6. To protect and give due consideration for the familial unit to wit, a gay or lesbian couples children and their well being.

7. To benefit society as a whole as to encourage and through marriage, create a more stable society.

8. To confirm the concept of taxation with representation, to wit: being offered the same rights and responsibilities required of all tax paying citizens.

9. To allow gays/lesbians simple dignity and respect as they have more than earned, having been constantly harmed by those who would deny them even this.

10. FINALLY, the most important reason of all, because whether heterosexuals accept it or not, Gays/Lesbians do fall in love and if their church has no problem with it, why not allow it. This is called fair play and may be something to consider.

Oops, that's 10 isn't it, sorry, I guess you thought there'd only be 7.

Now if I may ask a question back to you, Give me 7 logical, rational, non religious (since they are not valid) why you should not legalize gay marriage?

1. Procreation is not a requirement to marry.
2.Fertility is not a requirement to marry.
3.Religious arguments hold no water if the First Amendment is to be seen as relevant.
4. There are Religious denominations that will perform a same-sex marriage. If only one particular type of marriage is recognized it is an endorsement of one Faith over another which is clearly against the First Amendment.
5. Refusing to sell a marriage license to a couple based on their gender(s) is a discriminatory practice.)
6. Attempting to dictate who may and may not marry without medical reasoning to back it up is a form of discrimination.
7. Civil Unions are not equal to marriage and create a segregated class of relationships which is against anti-discrimination laws.

Here's a dozen (there are more):

Access to Military Stores
Assumption of Spouse’s Pension
Bereavement Leave
Immigration
Insurance Breaks
Medical Decisions on Behalf of Partner
Sick Leave to Care for Partner
Social Security Survivor Benefits
Sick Leave to Care for Partner
Tax Breaks
Veteran’s Discounts
Visitation of Partner in Hospital or Prison

I personally don't care if it's called "marriage" or not, but some people do care. As long as everyone is entitled to the same benefits, I am cool with it.

1. Because the law of the land isn't scripted by religion.
2. Because GLBT folk are included in "All are equal"
3. Because there is no evidence that same-sex marriages harm society.
4. Because institutionalized bigotry is still bigotry.
5. We all deserve equal protection under the law.
6. Because religion shouldn't prescribe who is to love each other.
7. Because no reasons against gay marriage have any basis outside of religion.
