I agree with all the units of velocity given to you in the above answers. In the physics community the most common unit is meters per second or (m/s).
If you are wondering how to find the velocity it is the change in x (or distance) divided by the change in time. (change in x/change in time)This is why the units are meters (a distance) divided by seconds (time).
So, basically, velocity is how much distance you cover in a certain amount of time.

measurment of Velocity is V
V=D/T
for example you are traveling at a distance of 100 miles and it is going to take you 2 hrs to get there your velocity is 50 mph so V=50mph
