I had some bleeding last night before bed, and very light cramping...and then all day today, I notice faint bleeding when I go to the bathroom. The past couple of hours, its gotten a little heavier. I'm 11 weeks pregnant. What should I do? I don't want to go to the hospital for it to be nothing, but likewise, I don't want to wait, for it to be bad. If anyone has any insight on this, it would be appreciated. Please no stupid answers.
Thanks!

I would at least call my doctor. You're not out of the woods for miscarriage until 12 weeks. Some bleeding can be normal for some people but it is one of those things you don't want to ignore especially if starts to get worse or turns bright red. Call your doctor now.

Hi There,

This is long, but I wanted to offer some reassuring help!!

I am 9 weeks pregnant & had a scare at the weekend too, I was away for the weekend with my family sailing, hectic as usual !! I started to bleed just as we got the boat in the water Friday night, I immediately thought WHAT HAVE I DONE & got very worried. I always figured I'm healthy & being pregnant never stopped me before.......I knew it was possible to have bleeding & still be OK, but I'd never had a problem with 2 healthy pregnancies before so this really worried me!!!

Anyways, I called my midwife & she said theres nothing we can do but wait till Monday now, she told me to rest, which I did!! I felt like an invalid, I didnt want to move incase I bled more!! I rested & the next day I seemed OK, then I had a second slight bleed Sunday, which made me worry all over again!!

I booked a sonogram first thing Monday & we went to see if we had a little baby there still, it was amazing we hadnt seen this baby before, & our youngest son is 7 so its been a while....To see a prefect little baby, with arms & legs & A HEARTBEAT was WONDERFUL!!!

The sonographer checked everything & saw no reason to worry, infact he said if I hadnt of told him, he would never known we had a problem. The baby was moving around, the sac was high just where its supposed to be, the cervix looked fine, & the cord had good blood flow. Heart beat 178!!

I only had my blackberry over the weekend so I spent time looking on Yahoo to see what other expectant moms had found, reading these answers did help alot & I wanted to make sure I replied with my positive outcome so far (still keeping fingers toes arms & legs crossed) I am still only 9 weeks & know things could still go wrong, but I dont want to expect the worst, infact I know the baby will be just fine!! :-)

The best advice I can give you is to get a sonogram, that will ease your mind & help you to relax, get plenty of rest & get your family to look after you for a few days, keep your feet up & allow what ever the bleeding is to stop. Drink lots of fluids & eat healthy foods, give your body everything it needs to help that little baby stay well !!!

GOOD LUCK!!!!

I just went to the doctor last month and I was 10 weeks pregnant . The doctor told me that it was normal to bleed after a pelvic exam and he said actually it was normal to have light bleeding all through your pregnancy. I know a girl who had a "period" the first 3 months of her first pregnancy. But if I was bleeding I would probably still go to the hospital if I felt like something was wrong, even with the doctor telling me that. It's totlally up to you just go with your gut instinct. If you do go to the hospital and everything turns out ok it's nothing to worry about cause i'm sure every soon to be mother would have done the same thing.

If the cramping and bleeding has lasted throughout the night and day I'd definately call my OB. If he or she isn't there you should take yourself to the ER just to be safe.

TRUST me they don't think anything is too little! I went in at 26 weeks because I couldn't feel ds moving. It really freaked me out. I knew everything was "probably" alright but I just couldn't shake the worry. The nurses were very kind and patient and told me not to worry it's better safe than sorry.

While I was there they talked with me about the baby moving. And, gave me lots of handouts about when I should worry. It was really comforting!

Bleeding is potentially very serious - and even more so as it's combined with cramping. And, as it hasn't stopped overnight I'd definately just go and tell them what's going on just to be on the safe side.

It's possible it's nothing. I had a friend who had light bleeding throughout her pregnancy and delivered a healthy little girl. But, at least give yourself some peace of mind.

NEVER, NEVER take a chance when you're pregnant. There is no such thing as a stupid reason to go to the hospital when bleeding is involved in a pregnancy. The doctor will tell you that light bleeding is sometimes common, but just for your own piece of mind I would get checked out. You would hate yourself later if something bad happened and it was something you could've prevented. I know from experience, and I ask myself everyday if there was something I should've done different. Doctors aren't always 100% right so go get yourself checked out !! Good luck, hope all goes well and Congrats !

Go to the hospital ASAP. If you are having troubles with your pregnancy they might just help you to keep from losing this baby. Also they will monitor your bleeding. Hope all goes well. I had a miscarriage at about 11 weeks. I luckily went to Emergency, and was admitted. Several hours after I started to bleed profusely and went immediately for surgery. If I hadn't been in the hospital I would have died.

You should call your doctor or emergency room anytime there is bleeding in pregnancy. The bleeding could signal a number of problems so you should definitely contact a healthcare professional. I had bleeding 3 times and eachtime my midwife wanted to see me right away to check me internally and listen for fetal heart beat. The first time it happened I was only 10 weeks and the heart beat was not able to be found with a doppler so I went for ultrasound. Turns out everything was fine and they couldn't find a source of the bleeding but you should definitely call a doctor.

Anytime you are worried when pregnant you should go in. Sometimes light bleeding is normal, and other times it is not, but if you catch it early, you may be able to prevent a miscarriage by getting treatment.
Go to the ER. Don't worry, just know that it is better to be checked out.

ANY TIME you bleed while you're pregnant, it should be accessed by a dr. Give them a call or go to the hospital. Don't be afraid of looking stupid, plenty of women have that fear and there's a problem they don't mention until it's too late.

If you are in the uk call nhs direct they will take your details and get a qualified nurse to call you back. Do you have a midwife if so why not call her. Dont do nothing! If your worried go to the hospital they wont think your silly its better safe than regretting doing something you considered. Good luck xx
