well think of it like this. most months have 30 or 31 days in them, not 28. So you can't really count a month as 4 weeks - you have to add up those additional days and count them too - about an extra week a trimester or so. So 9 months really is 40 weeks.

It is 40 weeks, which is technically 10 months (4 weeks to a month or 28 days) but of course our months are 30 or 31 days which ends up actually being 9 months total.

A woman is actually pregnant for 9 months, however, since they cannot tell exactly what day you got pregnant they begin counting from your last period. From then they count 40 weeks and that is when you are due, even though you are not technically pregnant for the first few weeks out of the 40.

it is 40 weeks, which actually somehow turns into 9 months. Not every month has only 4 weeks, some have five. that is how you get the 40 weeks but 9 months.

They are both right. 9 months is how long it takes for the embroy to develop into a healthy baby. 40 weeks is the time from start to finish for the whole process, starting with your last period and ending with the birth of your baby. But gestation is only 9 months.

Your due date is calculated 40 weeks from the first day of your last mentrual period (10 months). You likely got pregnant two weeks later so pregnancy itself is 38 weeks (9 1/2 months). At 36 weeks (9 months) babies are usually considered at term. I hope that helps.

Its actually 40 weeks...If pergnancy was only 9 months then it would only be 36 weeks (which is considered delivering early). So technically pregnancy is 40 weeks or 10 months long..because you have the baby at the END of your 9th month.

40 weeks is more accurate, 9 months could vary depending on whether they are long or short months. Most doctors consider 38-40 weeks full term.
Congratulations!
